01Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Smooth Recorder (“we”, “us”). By buying, downloading or using Smooth Recorder, you accept them. If you use it for a company, you confirm you can accept them on its behalf. You need to be old enough to form a contract where you live.
02Your license
When you buy Smooth Recorder, we give you a lifetime, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use it on one Mac you own or control at a time. You pay once and the license doesn't expire. The app is licensed, not sold.
Your license key activates Smooth Recorder on one Mac. To move it to a new Mac, deactivate it in Settings › License on the old one first, or email hello@smoothrecorder.com and we'll reset it for you.
What a purchase includes, such as the version and the updates that come with it, is shown at checkout. Updates are delivered through the app.
03Early access
During early access the app is still growing. Features may change, move or be removed, and you may meet bugs. The early-access price is what you pay once for your lifetime license, even after the public price goes up.
04Payment and refunds
Smooth Recorder is a one-time payment for a lifetime license. There's no subscription and nothing renews. Payments are processed by Dodo Payments, and prices are shown before you pay, with tax where it applies.
Because you get the full app and your license right away, all sales are final and we don't offer refunds. By completing your purchase you agree to receive the app immediately, which in some countries means you give up the right to cancel. This doesn't affect any rights your local law gives you that can't be waived.
If something went wrong with a payment, such as being charged twice, email hello@smoothrecorder.com and we'll fix it.
05Your content
Everything you capture and make with Smooth Recorder is yours. We claim no rights to it, and it stays on your Mac unless you share it.
You're responsible for what you capture. Some places require the consent of everyone who is recorded, such as the people on a call, and some content is protected by copyright. Make sure you have the right to record and share what you do.
06Acceptable use
Please don't:
- Use Smooth Recorder to record people without the consent the law requires, or for anything illegal.
- Share, resell or publish license keys.
- Remove or get around the licensing, or copy the app for others.
- Reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it.
07Our intellectual property
The app, its design, the Smooth Recorder name and logo, and this website belong to us or our licensors. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the app as described here.
08Other services
Some parts of the experience rely on others: Dodo Payments for payments, GitHub for update downloads, and any sharing server you set up yourself. Their own terms apply to them, and we aren't responsible for services we don't run.
09Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why. In short: your captures stay on your Mac, and the app doesn't track you.
10Ending the license
You can stop using Smooth Recorder at any time by deleting it. If you seriously break these terms, for example by sharing license keys, we may end your license after telling you. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as ownership and liability, still apply afterwards.
11Disclaimers
We work hard to make Smooth Recorder reliable, but it's provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don't promise that it will be free of errors or interruptions or fit every purpose. Keep copies of captures that matter to you.
12Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost data, profits or business, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
13Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product changes. We'll update the date at the top, and for important changes we'll tell customers by email before they take effect. Using the app after that means you accept the new terms.
